Cindy (Bowles) Coleman was
born July 23, 1954, in Lake City, Florida. She was saved at the age of eight at South Side Baptist Church in
Springfield, Missouri, while her parents were attending Bible College. She was a graduate of Seoul Foreign School in Seoul, Korea, where
her parents, Don and Mona Bowles, were missionaries.
Cindy graduated from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, in 1977. She was married to Pat Coleman
on July 27, 1973.
They served their internship in Virginia, Tennessee, and Indiana.
The Colemans were approved as Baptist Bible Fellowship missionaries to Zaire in May,
1984. When Zaire became too war-torn for missionaries to stay they moved
to Zambia but went back and forth across the border and had ministries
in both countries. Cindy was completely involved in the ministry:
teaching, training and planning.
On July 12, 1994, Pat, Cindy, and Colin were on their way to Ndola, a city 30 miles
away, to pick up airline tickets to attend Chandra’s graduation
exercises from Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. A pickup truck crossed the median, became airborne and hit their
vehicle broadside. Cindy died on impact. Her funeral services were held at their sending church, Calvary
Baptist Church, Bellflower, California. She was survived by her husband, Pat, who
still ministers in Zambia;
one daughter, Chandra; and sons, Christopher and Colin. Her parents are missionaries with the Baptist Bible Fellowship in Zambia as is her brother, Dan, and his family.
