Bob Hillyer was born July 29, 1931 in Rock Island, Illinois. In 1948 he entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Augusta, Georgia where he met and married Jean Strickland in 1950.  The Air Force transferred them to Alaska and upon being discharged in 1953 they moved back to Rock Island. 
    Bob was saved there under the ministry of Bill Sears. Bob was soon called to preach and graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1958, having felt called to reach the Eskimo and Indian people of Alaska. 
    He did a commendable work there until his death on August 21, 1989. Bob was survived by his wife, Jean, son, David and daughters, Lorrain and Karen.
