2024 BBFI National Officer Nominees

 

On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the State Representatives of the BBFI established the ballot for 2024-2026 BBFI National Officers. This ballot was then approved during the business meeting of the BBFI on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Below, you will be introduced to each candidate. At the bottom of this page, you can request a ballot to download. After downloading, you will need to print, complete, and mail to the BBFI Mission Office at the address on the ballot with a postmark date no later than July 1, 2024. Jon Haley
Hallmark Baptist Church
Fort Worth, TX

Jon Haley has been the lead Pastor of Hallmark Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, TX, since 2016. He previously served as Lead Pastor of Northside Baptist in Arkansas City, Kansas. He also served as the youth pastor of Hallmark Baptist and Woodcliff Baptist in Austin, Texas. Jon earned his bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College in 1995 and a Master's degree from Liberty University in 2008.

Jon currently serves as the President of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. He previously served two terms as 1st Vice President of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. He also serves on the board of MANNA Worldwide and PR.I.ME. Ministries. He is also an adjunct professor at Mission University.

He and his wife, Joy, have three children.

 
 
 
 

1st Vice-President (Missions)

 

Dustin Janney
Orlando Baptist Church
Orlando, FL

Dustin Janney has been the lead pastor of Orlando Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida, since 2016. He joined the staff in 2014. He is a graduate of Boston Baptist College. Prior to serving at Orlando Baptist Church, he served at Avalon Church in the East Orlando area.

Dustin serves as the State Rep for the FL BBFI and has served on the missions sub-committee as a state rep for the last three years. He also serves as the president of Orlando Christian Prep, a ministry of Orlando Baptist Church. Under his leadership, OBC hosted the 2020 February National BBFI meeting.

He and his wife, Brooke, have four children. 

 
 

 

Tracy Roby
Overland Park Baptist Church
Overland Park, KS

In 1984, three important things happened in the life of Tracy Roby: he graduated from Baptist Bible College, married Shana, and began full-time ministry. The first eight years of their ministry occurred in Texas at Lubbock and Littlefield.  In 1992, he assumed the pastorate of Highland Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico.  While in New Mexico, he was an active part of the Baptist Bible Fellowship, serving as Treasurer, Vice Chairman, and the last three years there as State Chairman.  During their ten years of ministry, the church experienced tremendous growth in faith promise missions.  In 2002, the Roby’s moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to assist in the ministries of Overland Park Baptist.  Tracy Roby became the senior pastor in 2007 after serving as a co-pastor for five years alongside Jerry Byars. 

Soon after accepting the pastorate, he served as Chairman of the Kansas Baptist Fellowship for one term.  He also served as a trustee for Boston Baptist College for 12 years.  Overland Park Baptist is a church that is passionate about missions.  They regularly support and contribute to an average of 140 mission projects on a monthly basis.  The church has been active in Faith Promise Missions for many years, surpassing 16 million dollars in total giving.  For the past fifteen years, the church has averaged between 4 to 5 hundred thousand annually in mission giving.  Pastor Roby says, “One of the greatest recent joys has been the numerous missionaries that grew up in our church, or are sent out of our church, and are now on the field advancing the cause of world evangelization.  To see our people now giving their lives and children for missions is a tremendous blessing.” 

God has blessed them with four wonderful children and six grandchildren. 

 
 
 
 

2nd Vice-President (Education)

 

Kevin Carson
Sonrise Baptist Church
Ozark, MO

Kevin Carson is the founding pastor and has served as lead pastor of Sonrise Baptist Church in Ozark, MO, since 2002, when he started the church.  In addition to his pastoral ministry, he serves as the department chair of biblical counseling at Mission University in Springfield, MO. Kevin writes regularly at kevincarson.com. He also serves as a counselor at Sonrise Biblical Counseling Ministry, is ACBC Certified, IABC Certified, a council member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition, an author, and is a frequent speaker at conferences, retreats, and seminars.

Kevin currently serves as the 2nd VP (Education) of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International, as a BBFI Mission Field Rep, and as a faculty member at Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Missouri BBF. In his role as a faculty member, Kevin has been involved with multiple accreditation teams, developed and maintains two academic programs, and has taught for twenty-five years on the undergraduate and seminary levels. As an educator, he participates in multiple higher education consortiums of Bible colleges and seminaries.

He and his wife, Kelly, have four children.

 
 

3rd Vice-President (Church Planting)

 

Randy Abell
Heartland Baptist Church
Ames, IA

Randy Abell was saved as a boy in Indiana and grew up at Grace Baptist in Bloomington.  He came to BBC in 1983 and earned a degree in Secondary Education. After serving in the army, he started a landscape business, which he ran for 12 years before being called to preach in 2002.  He and his wife, Deanna, came back to Springfield, where he earned his M.A. in church ministry before heading to Iowa to start Heartland Baptist in Ames, where he has now pastored for 21 years and built three new church buildings as the church has grown.  Along the way, he's earned a Master’s Degree from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary and a PhD from Louisiana Baptist University.  

He loves the BBF, served for 12 years as Iowa's state chairman, and then the last two years as the VP of our fellowship's church planting efforts. 

He and his wife, Deanna, have two children.

 
 

 

Joey Candillo
Grace Church
Independence, MO

Joey Candillo is the founding pastor and has served as lead pastor of Grace Church in Independence, MO, since 2014. At the age of 22 Joey went to prison for selling drugs. It was in prison that Joey received Christ as his Savior. He graduated from Baptist Bible College in 2002. He has planted two churches. In addition to Grace Church, he also planted Milestone Church in inner-city Kansas City in 2002.

Joey has served as MO State Rep and BBC Alumni Association Vice-President. He also serves as the chaplain for a local high school football team.

He and his wife, Megan, have five children.

 
 
 
 

4th Vice-President (Church Development)

 

John Decker
MorningStar Baptist Church
Centerville, OH

John Decker has been the lead Pastor of MorningStar Baptist Church in Centerville, Ohio, since 2018. He previously served as the Director of Admissions and Campus Pastor at Mission University.   He also served as Youth Pastor at Park Crest Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, after serving several years as a Police Officer in Springfield.  John earned his Bachelor’s degree from Mission University in 2003 and is currently working on a master’s degree in church leadership. 

He currently serves on the board of Camp Chautauqua in Miamisburg, Ohio. 

John and Mandy have been married for 23 years and have three boys. 

 
 

 

Phillip Housley
Park Crest Baptist Church
Springfield, MO

Phillip has been the Senior Pastor at Park Crest Baptist Church since 2009.   Phillip is a graduate of Mission University.  In his early years of ministry, he was a student pastor for Ashland Baptist in Cincinnati, Ohio.   He previously served as Executive Pastor for Park Crest Baptist Church for 10 years.  Following the Lord’s leading, he accepted a position as the Senior Pastor of East Side Baptist in Topeka, Kansas, where he served five years.  In 2009, Park Crest called him back as their senior pastor, and he’s been faithfully serving for 15 years. 

Phillip has also served the fellowship by holding the office of the Chairman of the MOBBF for one term and is currently the field representative for the United Kingdom.

He and his wife, Stephanie, have 2 grown boys and 3 grandkids.

Bob Stephenson
Graceway Baptist Church
Springfield, MO

Robert Stephenson has been the lead pastor of Graceway Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, since 2000.  He previously served on the pastoral staff at Ryan Road Baptist Church and at Jack Van Impe Ministries.  Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College and his master's degree from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary.

Bob has served on the Missions Office Advisory Board, as a BBFI Field Rep, and as Secretary for the BBFI.  He has served on the Executive Committee of the MO BBF and as lead chaplain for the Springfield Police Department.  He is certified in dispute resolution through the National Center for Dispute Settlement.

He and his wife, Kim, have one child.

Dean Hughes
East Side Baptist Church
Topeka, KS

Dean Hughes has been the pastor of East Side Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, since 2009.  He previously served as a worship leader at churches in Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma.  Dean earned his bachelor's degree from Baptist Bible College in 1985 and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling degree from Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology in 2001.  

Dean serves as the state chairman for the Kansas Baptist Bible Fellowship.  He has also served as a Baptist Bible College Alumni Vice-President.  

He and his wife, Elaine, have two adult children, Haley and Cameron.
